Some findings from a Poneman Institute study on "Perceptions About Network Security". The survey reveals increases in the severity and frequency of cyber attacks in the last year, with 41% of organizations reporting that these attacks cost $500,000 or more. "The survey also suggests that mobile devices continue to be a weak link for data security. Thirty-four percent of the attacks came from employee laptops and 29% from employee mobile devices. Despite the threat posed by such devices, 60% of those surveyed reported that their companies allow employees to access their network or enterprise systems." Most troubling is this final statistic: only 56% of the companies surveyed had policies that address corporate security.
