The America India Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), in cooperation with Association of Indians in America (AIA), Indian American Intellectuals Forum (IAIF), Rajput Association of North America (RANA), and several other associations in New York organized a meeting in honor of visiting BJP Spokesperson and a Member of Parliament on October 27th.
Addressing the Community Leaders, Shri Prakash Javadekar who was in New York to participate in meetings in the United Nations spoke about the Importance of Indo-American Relationship and comfortably answered questions put to him by the audience.
Shri Javadekar said that India is the largest democracy in the world while America is the oldest democracy in the word. India is rising as a crucial component of Asian security and stability. America can provide us cutting edge technology and we can provide services and skilled man power. It is mutually advantageous to both of us. In fact, we are natural allies.
India is a peace loving country. It is an asset not only to America but also to the entire world.
We believe that America’s policy towards Pakistan is a failure. I am of the opinion that in future American arms transfer to Pakistan should be based on the condition that Pakistan will use the arms only against the terrorist groups operating against India and the USA.
Shri Javadekar expressed concern about the Wall Street protests and said that they reflect the widening gap between rich and poor.
He reminded the audience that it was Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of India who took initiative to develop mutual relationship between India and USA.
In his opening remarks, Jagdish Sewhani, President of AIPAC said that the mission of AIPAC is to strengthen ties between USA and India. Meaningful relationship between India and the USA is the need of the hour. Hence, it is incumbent on both the nations to further consolidate and deepen our relationship.
He further said that the USA should stop financial aid to Pakistan whose military is wedded to a paranoid, antiquated and dangerous mindset. “ It is a paradox that American financial aid to Pakistan is being used to kill American soldiers in Afghanistan and Pakistan”, exclaimed Mr. Sewhani.
Animesh Goenka, President of AIA, USA welcomed Prakash Javadekar and community leaders.
Dr. Urmilesh Arya proposed a vote of thanks.
